Is it possible for me to own a Labrador retriever if my dad has allergies?
By- Will receive regular daily brushing and will use de-shedding tool often
- Extra care and grooming will be taken when dog is shedding more heavily
- Will not be allowed to go in dads bedroom
- Have a HEPA filter for the family room
- Will receive minimum contact with my dad for my dad is not home alot and the dog will most likely be with me most of the time

It is possible. But, it depends on how strong your dads allergic reactions are.
Good Luck!

I own a 2 year old yellow lab-mix. She has the fur of a lab. My mom and my brother are asthmatic, and while if they come in a lot of direct contact (petting for long periods of time, letting the dog lick them a lot, etc), they will start to have allergy issues. But it’s not very bad.

No, would be insane – labs shed a lot – the poor dog would end up dumped in a shelter sooner or later, don’t do that to a dog, not fair.
Wait until you are on your own, then get one.
Actually, it’s not even the fur that triggers the allergies, it’s the dander from the skin and the saliva – and labs certainly can’t not shed dander from their skin or have saliva.

Labs are short hair and nearly all short hair breeds shed continuously. Depending on the severity of your dad’s allergies and your maintenance, it may be able to be controlled, but there are other breeds out there that might aggravate his allergies less.

Depending on the severity of your dad’s allergies will determine allot! If his allergies are triggered by airborne allergens, more than likely your best bet would be to keep your labs hair cut.. yeah.. shaved really close. But then you still have the problem with the dog, wherever he brushes against or goes, he will leave allergens. That is what can aggravate allergies.
If you are wanting just a dog, then the only dog that I know of that does not carry allergens that is safe for those with allergies, is a poodle. You can even get those big poodles. They don’t spread allergens because they don’t shed. That is the biggest thing that causes allergies to act up. Even if you have all those things that you mentioned, a lab will.. regardless.. still shed. And THAT is what causes allergies to act up.
Anyways.. hope that helps a little.
