should the furminator be used for normal weekly grooming?
Byor only when the dogs is blowing coat? will it work on a samoyed on his weekly brushing when he’s not blowing coat? the site makes it sound like they only use it when the dogs are shedding since its a deshedding tool but can u use it like a normal brush for weekly grooming

Yes it can be used if lightly it was made for pulling loose hair. To much can pull the fur and be painful for the animal If not shedding.

I think its relatively safe to use a furminator for weekly brushing. I have heard some complaints that the furminator can cut some of the guard hairs (top coat). So maybe a regular brush would work better when your dog is not blowing his coat.

I use it on my Newf every week!
ADD: Never surrender… obviously you have never used one and obviously you do not own a breed with a double-coat. I swear by this brush. Out of all the brushes I have it is the only one that works wonders on my Newf’s coat. P.S. Thanks for the thumbs down!

I would use it exactly how the instructions say.

I use it even when they aren’t shedding and it works fine. Of course, I don’t get the huge amount of fur, but I still get a little. Three of my dogs are done with the major spring shedding though, one is still in full shedding mode though.
Added later: Jacob, I agree-it IS funny; and even more hilarious when they make an ass of themselves on a public forum.

I use it once a week, and it works nicely, but it is very expensive (roughly $40), so I don’t know if I’m getting my money’s worth. This is just my opinion, because I know people who swear by the furminator.
