What is the best carpet shampoo for dog urine removal??
ByI want to actually shampoo my carpet with my carpet shampooer. I know that there are products you can purchase in the pet store and pour straight on pet urine spots and I do that occassionally..but is there a good shampoo that will do good at removing smells that I can actually dilute and put in my shampooer?? Something you can purchase from Target or somewhere that works really well? I’ve tried the Hoover pet shampoo in the green bottle..it worked okay..but is there anything better?? Also..is it normal to continue to smell the dog urine until the carpet dries? It seems when I shampoo..it just gets worse for a while…. Any experienced advice will be appreciated. Tks!! Sherri

Rug Doctor Pet Formula works good. You can use 409 Carpet Cleaner on it first, so it will get ALL the smell and stain out.
No, it’s not normal for it to still smell after you shampoo. Try going to Rite Aid, or Food Lion if you have those around you, and renting a Rug Doctor. It’s only about 20 dollars for a day, and it works better than a regular shampoo-er.

Not so sure about the shampoo but pure water with vinegar solution cleans it up fast if he has another accident.

I’ve heard that Natural Magic will actually break down the enzymes in the urine and destroy the odors. At this point if you are still smelling old stains, it may be that the urine has soaked into the pad below your carpet and you may have to have it replaced.

of course it gets worse. you are re-wetting the under padding. causeing the smell to return. the only way I know of is to replace the underpadding and than crate the dog and restart potty training.

NoMos. NoMos is 100% natural and biologically destroys all organic stains and odorson most fabrics and carpets and upholstery. It can be used alone or in a carpet cleaner. Very popular with dog show people.
Each bottle contains billions of beneficial bacteria and enzymes. NoMos does not just mask odor – it literally changes the chemical composition of the odor at the source and replaces it with a fresh scent. NoMos disintegrates organic stains (blood, urine, foods, etc) and digests proteins, carbohydrates, fats, oils and greases. It is not sold in stores, only by private retailers. You probably will not find it on the internet. Contact me privately if interested and I can give you the info on how to locate a retailer. ferlinka@yahoo.com
The reason you are still smelling an odor is due to gravity.
The urine will not just stay on the top of the carpet. It has probably seeped down into the padding and, if you have wood below the carpet, into that as well. It smells worse when it is humid or when the carpet is damp due to the urine and bacteria still present. Most carpet cleaners get only the carpet clean and not the pad or the floor.
Your dog will continue to urinate/mark the area unless you eradicate the smell entirely.
