Omega 3 capsules?
ByI’ve heard that they help a lot with dry skin in dogs. I’ve been using a small amount of pure vegetable oil on his food and the dry skin went away BUT if omega 3 is better…then i’m thinking about giving him those. Do i break open the capsule or just give it to him?

The capsules are pretty large, so for most dogs you’d have to break them open and pour them over the food. I’ve got one dog who will gobble down anything I give him, but for my other two, I use the point of a very sharp knife to make a tiny slit in the capsule, then pour it over food.

Omega does work better, and will not put on pounds, like V. Oil. Cod Liver oil capsule work good, also. you can give him the pills, or open them up, and put on his food.

Call your vet and ask. I believe they make Omega3 suppliments for dogs, you should be able to look on the label and see. If you are using human suppliments, check with your vet and see if he recommends using those.
You could also give him fish, but again ask your vet.

my Cavaliers get one capsule a day. their coats look great, not flaky dry skin that you can see on dogs that are in the house during winter.
i puncher the capsule and squeeze it on their food. they will take it whole but when they chew it they get ear hair in their mouth and go around smelling like fish. Yeak!!!!
