Is it nesessary to use a flea and tick shampoo?
ByIf my dogs aren’t showing signs of flea and ticks, is it nessesary to use a flea and tick killing shampoo durring their once monthly bath?
Or is it a good preventative measure to take along with the flea tick liquid medication?

No, it is not necessary. I use Only Natural Pet All-in-One Flea Remedy once a month. It is very gentle, but wont work if you don’t apply it all over your dog’s body.

keep them on their monthly preventative and you don’t have to use a flea and tick shampoo

no, not if you give them medication. It isn’t good for their skin, it’s only useful if they have ticks and or fleas.

I don’t, unless of course they actually have them. It’s a good idea to if you can afford it, but by no means necessary.
Hope this helps!

no, it is not a good idea because it could possibly have them itch more. So just use regular shampoo and when you see signs of itching, or your vet says that your pet is experiencing fleas, then go ahead and use it. You may want to ask your vet anyways.

It’s unnecessary to use it if it does not have ticks & fleas however, if you’re going to bring your dog to dog events or shows where it’s going to be hanging around with other dogs, it’s a good idea to bathe it with that shampoo. But to be honest with you, these shampoos are kinda hopeless. Have tried it before & it did not help to prevent ticks from getting on my dogs at all. Spot On works better.

The shampoo isn’t mandatory but it is good for extra precautions.
I put tick/flea medicine on my dogs every month or 2 because when your dogs gets ticks or fleas they are really hard to get rid of.

You don’t need to. Even when my dog does have fleas I just bath her in baby shampoo, because sometimes the chemicals in the flea and tick shampoos, will dehydrate and irritate your dogs skin. But if they do get fleas, an organic way to rid the fleas and ticks is to mix, lemon, lime, and orange juices and apply to your dogs before you bath them. You leave the mixture on for a few minutes, it will dehydrate the fleas and ticks and they’ll die, that’s when you bath your dog like you normally do.

You should never wash your pets with people shampoo, but Dawn dish soap is safe and kill fleas effectively. It’s mild enough to be safe, but strong enough to kill the fleas. Hope this helps!

it is always great to take precautions when it comes to caring for any of your pets. id say that if your dogs arent showing signs of any types of fleas or ticks (for fleas black looking dirt in their fur), then it isnt actually necessary to put it in their monthly bath. it should suffice if you use the liquid or the pill medication.
