Where can I find information on how to put restrictions pit bulls?

By

Many of my neighbors are getting Pit Bulls and I notice that they can not control them. When they do walk them I notice they struggle to keep the dog away from going after other dogs. Things finally pissed me off that a neighbors “friendly” pit who would never hurt a fly decided to attack my wife.

I want to find ways that if you want a PIT you must take training cources. I understand its not the dog but the owner Crap, but what if the owner does not know how to raise the stinking dog. I am just so angry at PITS. What Are the reasons to have a pit. Good protection able to beat up my dog ohhh Has the human race not evolved far enough that we care about this.

“My dog is bigger so I am better…. My car is faster (even though the speed limit is 65) What the Hell People.

Get a better dog.

If you want protection buy an alarm system.

(Sorry for the rant)
Some more info. I am not looking to Ban the Breed, as has been done in some cities in Canada, I am looking to have owners take training cources after they purchase them. Not a ban. People have to go to Driving school. Just dog training by the SPCA. If they dont then to have their homeowners insurance go up.

And for the people who think my wife has not been attacked. please, I am not usually an angry person. She was bitten in her belly and twice in the leg.

And I will sue this guy to Kingdom Come.

Start with local vet, local pet shops, local breeders.
Check newspaper, Check your town hall (if have one).

i agree with you if the owners dont take time to properly train these dogs constantly ever damn day then they should not own this dog as for me im a responsible person who owns a female pit mixed that ever since she was 4 months of age was train to be well behaved with other dogs, and is the sweetes thing around.
but i agree with you if they want this breed to be a guard dog then get and alarm system, or get a rottweiler(a breed that is very protective of its owners)

Your rant is off base.

You said it yourself: “they can not control them”

It’s the owners that deserve the blame here, not the dogs. Pitbulls are NO different than ANY other 40+lb dog.

If these people cannot control a 40lb dog, you should be happy they don’t have a 80lb lab, or a 200lb mastiff or great dane.

i’m also not sure where you got the idea that pits are supposed to be better protection, better guard dogs, etc….

They’re not. They’re just a dog. Nothing more.

You need to get better facts, and a clearer understanding of dog obedience.

I’m also interested in the details on your wife getting ‘attacked’.

Unfortunately, pits tend to be the dog of choice for idiots. I think the only way to knock sense into these people is to hit them it their wallets. If your wife was injured by this dog, sue their asses off and file complaints with your city. We really need to hold idiot dog owners accountable, they ruin it for all of us.

You do have a good point here. But, responsible ownership should extend to owners of all larger breeds. Training the dogs as well as the owners is an excellent start. I would think you would start at the local level with going to a town meeting (for lack of being able to think of the correct words) and addressing this issue with them. I don’t know if you would have to have a petition for this but I’m sure if you do they will tell you that at that time.

FYI………Not all pitts are dangerous. My son has a daughter soon to be 2 years old. They have a Staffordshire Pitt in the house that is right at 5 years old now. I was a little concerned about her being around my granddaughter but after seeing them interact I no longer worry. But, it’s like my son tells everyone, even though the dog is well behaved as long as she has teeth she could still bite. She can be very protective of my granddaughter with strangers but neither of them are ever left unattended inside or out even though there’s a fence.

I hope you pursue this but don’t limit it to pitts. Any dog can attack. Good luck.

owners cant handle them so ban the dog?
ok if thats the case then
people cant handle their alcohol consumption so ban alcohol.
people cant handle their teenagers so ban pregnancy
people shoot people so ban the gun
people die from prescription drug use so ban the pharmacies.

come on people. if you dont like that there are bad owners with uncontrollable dogs then ban aggressive dogs not one specific breed. if you ban american pit bull terriers (their proper name) then the drug dealers, gang bangers, and other morons will just turn to a different dog and the cycle begins all over again. stop breed specific legislation and ban aggressive dogs of all breeds.

I think you just hate pit bulls from there reps. Its the owners you should be mad at not the dogs. The only bad dog is one with a bad owner. I think maybe you should try to talk to your nieghbors instead of complaining to people who can’t do anything for you because I am pretty sure you are just pissing people off.

Insteady of trying to ban the dog you need to report the owners of these dogs. If they can’t control their animals then they shouldn’t have them.
I own a American Pitbull Terrier and I have control over her. She does not attack. She is protective and will growl, but when I tell her to hush she does.
Your problem sounds more like owners that should not have any dogs. They have no control.
Report the owners to the local authorities, but please don’t put the blame on the breed and by trying to ban the breed you are adding to the rep!!!!!!!!!!!!!
