Best dog coat whitening shampoo?

By

I show my Corgi, and he got a pink permanant marker stain on his white leg. I’ve waited for two months, figuring it would shed off, since it’s only on the top of his fur, but no such luck. I have a show in early September, so I need to get it off soon. I’ve tried giving him bathes with whitening shampoo, but at least my brand hasn’t worked. It’s called Four Paws Magic Coat, and it’s never made a difference. I’ve also tried numerous waterless shampoos, and normal dog shampoo.

I would take him to the groomer but I’d like to learn how to deal with this myself, so that if I ever have an “emergency” before a show I can deal with it.

So, what’s the best whitening/stain removing shampoo or similar product for dogs?

It’s for human skin, but may help with your dog’s fur.

Shampoo isn’t going to work on permanent marker; it causes a stain within the hair.

Try the following formula:

Milk of Magnesia and Hydrogen Peroxide in a 50/50 solution. Add corn starch to thicken to paste. Apply liberally, work well into coat, allow to dry completely, brush out.

I used this on my Pyranees, worked wonders. Be very careful not to get it on the dog’s skin or near mucous membranes/eyes

As a hairstylist I’ve actually used this mixtture to get out “temporary”color from blond hair after Halloween, too lol..

good luck!

What I used to use when I had afghans was laundry bluing. You just put a few drops in a bottle of shampoo. Don’t use too much or your dog will have a green tinge. It really brightens whites – only about 5 -6 drops in a bottle of shampoo is enough.

Hope this helps.
